As a precaution that Trotman will die, Rambo is allowed a solo rescue on the condition that he be caught or uprooted in the event of death. Colonel Trotman has been captured and sent to a large mountain base to interrogate Soviet Colonel Zessen and his henchmen Sergeant Kaurov.Įmbassy official Robert Grigs informed Rambo of the capture of Colonel Trutman but refused to approve a rescue mission for fear of drawing the United States into war. Colonel Trotman proceeds anyway and is ambushed by enemy forces near the border, resulting in the killing of all his people.
Despite showing pictures of civilians suffering at the hands of the Soviet army, Rambo refused to join the war.
